SEO - Search Engine Optmisation and it's importance

Today I will be talking about what Search Engine Optimisation is and why it is so important to have it to promote your website further. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) can create a very positive change to your website and increase traffic, leads and sales so find out why you should be spending some online marketing dollars in SEO.

Getting a website (Web Development/Web Design) is only the first component to marketing your business online. Finding a company who will workshop with you in all your online business and marketing solutions, (SEO, Web Development, Web Design etc) can be equally as hard. Simply paying someone to do Web Development does not instantly provide you with the exposure and traffic that you need. Businesses who purchase Web Development services are not clear on what it is that they need or what to do to make sure that their website achieves the results, leads and sales that they are looking for in the first place

Your website should be built in accordance with  SEO friendly (Search Engine Optimisation) requirements, Navigation, Logical order and flow, Wire Frame etc have been tested by various respondents and the content you have provided has the right keyword density. There are many other variables to SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and these are just only a few important aspects in its functionality and how potential clients are able to find your business in the Major Search Engines.

Anyone that uses the Internet who searches for information, images and websites uses a Search Engine (Main ones Google, Yahoo and MSN). You simply type in a word that you wish to find information to and the search query provides you with a list of results. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is finding out what kind of keywords, phrases that your potential clients might be thinking to find the products and services that you are offering.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) becomes a process of figuring out ways to increase your exposure and do whatever is necessary (always adhering to white hat techniques), to move to the top of the search engine results so that potential clients can visit your website. Ranking is very important in providing credibility to your brand, provides TRUST to your products/services and gives potential customers the idea that you are a business that is serious and has worth.

Thinking of what kind of keywords that your potential clients type in can be a very tedious process. For example if you run a business that sells "fruits" your first thought might be a generic word such as "apples". There are a number of issues that can occur providing a generic or broad term. If someone is looking to purchase fruits they are just as likely to type the keyword "apples".

In this particular case the word "apples" is taken by Apple the company and therefore phrases, broad, exact, negative keywords will need further development. This gives you some indication as to how Search Engine Optimisation needs to be targeted effectively towards your business, products, services and be in line with many other SEO factors that come into play.
If you wish to promote your website through media channels such as Print, TVC or Radio, your first investment for your marketing dollars should be SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). Advertising in these media channels can cost thousands of dollars and this may not be within your budget.
